Florida Studio Theatre WRITE A PLAY

Florida Studio Theatre is proud to present the  25th Anniversary of the WRITE A PLAY program. WRITE A PLAY is a year-round comprehensive arts integration program with a unique blend of professional plays, exciting theatre experiences, and in-class workshops. Through participatory learning with a special emphasis on literacy, this program has developed an impressive record of success, reaching over 50,000 students annually.

All Students are encouraged to submit their work to FST’s Young Playwrights Festival, which celebrates those students and their teachers, whose plays show a strong understanding for the theatrical process involved in writing a play and reveal a budding creative talent that deserves congratulations!

Kids Komedy Club | ages 10 -17

Write, rehearse and perform sketch comedy and improvisation games. KKC will perform in front of a live audience on selected Saturdays. Utilize acting, movement and singing skills in developing characters and relationships in an ensemble. Students will enhance their imaginations and
physicality through improvisation. Prerequisite: Previous acting class at FST or staff invitation.

Investigate the depth and challenge of developing a complete play. Collaborate with FST teaching artists to create, rehearse and perform an original one-act piece. An intensive training program for students with previous training from the FST School. Prerequisite: Previous acting class at FST or staff invitation.

Technical Theatre | ages 14-18

Technical Theatre will introduce interested technicians to the areas of stagecraft and theatrical production. Students will meet with scenic designers, costume designers, lighting designers and FST Production Department personnel to build, paint, and create with the opportunity to
participate in the events of tech week for FST productions. Each session will teach different focus areas.
