The Sarasota National Cemetery  is a 295-acre United States National Cemetery located near Sarasota, in Sarasota County, Florida. Administered by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, it was the sixth national cemetery developed in Florida. The Sarasota National Cemetery is the home to Patriot Plaza,  a 2,800-seat ceremonial amphitheater at Sarasota National Cemetery that features these themes:  HONOR SERVICE, INSPIRE PATRIOTISM, and EMBRACE FREEDOM.

The Patterson Foundation fully funded the design and construction of Patriot Plaza and has donated it to our community and the National Cemetery Administration.  Patriot Plaza is a space for our community to take pride in hosting veterans-related ceremonies and events for generations to come.

The art installations at Patriot Plaza are some of the space’s most inspiring and meaningful features. With a goal to preserve memory through art, the installations honor men and women who serve, and their families, while communicating their stories to future generations.

The Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County is serving as the coordinating organization for student field trips to Patriot Plaza.
