During the Amigo One-Stringed Guitar Project, fourth grade students will work with guitarist Bob Fieberts to make their own one-stringed Amigo guitar from a cookie tin that they supply and a neck that is supplied for them. During this teaching artist residency, students will learn to play music on the Amigo. They will learn about the science of sound, vocabulary of stringed instruments, different types of musical instruments, as well as the history and geography of stringed instruments. They will get to keep the Amigo when the project is completed. There will be five visits by the teaching artist, with a demonstration of an acoustic guitar, mandolin, banjo, violin, and electric guitar.
