2020 Exhibit Field Trips
Thanks to our generous sponsors, free field trips to the 2020 Exhibit will be offered January 21 through April 3, 2020 this year.
Under the guidance of Riverview High School faculty advisor Dena Sturm, our high school Student Docents serve as guides for thousands of area elementary, middle and high school students who visit the exhibit every year. Click here to learn more.
Make-A-Day Of It!
Teachers and students who visit the exhibit are provided the opportunity, using the same buses, to visit a second venue! In 2019 over 4,847 students experienced a partner activity as part of their field trip.
Participating Partners/Explorations include:
Florida Studio Theatre (Tomás and the Library Lady at FST)
Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium
The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art
Marie Selby Botanical Gardens (Embracing Our Bio-Differences)
Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall (Four Scare & Seven Years Ago)
Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe (The Supercilious Seed)
Teachers should follow the following steps to participate in Make-A-Day!
- Confirm arrangements directly with your MAKE-A-DAY partner FIRST
- Register for your free field trip via the link above and Request a student docent when registering.
- All Make-A-Day! participants MUST request a student docent. (exception – if your partner activity is only available on a Monday or Thursday)
- Request transportation directly with your school district transportation office by following the instructions in your confirmation email
- Visit the Bayfront Park Exhibit as part of their field trip
If your trip to the exhibit is canceled for any reason, you must also cancel your Make-A-Day of It! plans.
Changes To Your Trip
You do not need permission to cancel your trip or change the date of your visit. However, you must email or call us at 941-404-5710 with your (1) new date; (2) time of arrival at the exhibit; and (3) Authorization Code. Your Authorization Code will not change.
While you do not need our permission to increase the number of students, we do ask that you email us with any significant changes.
Canceling Your Trip
Should you need to cancel your trip, please email or call us at 941-404-5710 as soon as possible.
Note that you must also cancel all scheduled buses directly with your transportation department. Embracing Our Differences will not pay for any cancellation charges, trips without a valid Authorization Code or for buses which do not actually visit the exhibit. Any such cost will be the responsibility of the individual school making the reservation.
As a condition to receiving a free field trip, participating teachers must complete a short, online post-trip survey. Field trip invoices will not be paid until such time as the survey is completed. Thank you for your support in helping us evaluate the effectiveness of our programs.
