The Prehistoric People program is designed for third grade students and features a curriculum booklet for each student for interdisciplinary classroom preparation prior to an experience-filled field trip to our 30-acre museum.

Historic Spanish Point has provided our Docent-Led School Tours to over 90,000 school children over the past 30 years. Tours are given to public schools, private schools, and home school groups in Southwest Florida.  The Archaeology program is designed for second and third grade students and features a curriculum booklet for each student for interdisciplinary classroom preparation prior to an experience-filled field trip to our 30-acre museum. On the 2.5 hour tour, students explore the archaeological sites at Historic Spanish Point with one of our skilled docents. They are taught how prehistoric people lived and built their society in ancient Florida. They also learn how about archaeology and how archaeologists study the ancient past. This tour includes a hands-on activity where students will participate in a simulated archaeological excavation and will learn how to identify artifacts.

Our tours are available Tuesday-Friday from October-May. Tours will typically run from 10:00 a.m to 12:30 p.m. and participants are invited to bring lunches with them to enjoy at our Magnolia Lawn picnic area after their tour.
