The Circus has come to town!  With a budget of $150.00 students will decide what their experience will be when they go to see a performance.   Using the Zoom platform, the Circus Arts Conservatory teaching artists help learners to analyze prices of items for sale and make a decision on how much money they will spend and on what.

Essential concepts:

    • Learn how to budget – Circus Arts Conservatory teaching artists will engage students in a discussion about what happens at the circus. What might you eat? What might you see? Who might each student want to bring with them, what they might eat, drink or buy? Students will learn to choose activities and items to budget spending the allotted pretend money they are given.
    • Fluently add and subtract multi-digit whole numbers using the standard algorithm. Students will work with their budget, working out what they can and choose to buy and do. They will then present their “money” virtually to the teaching artists, who will (in character) count their “money” and virtually give them the items they bought through images and videos on ZOOM.
    • Solve multistep word problems posed with whole numbers
