Students will explore their colors and identify their palette as artists do.

By making connections between colors and memories or feelings, students have the broaden their perception of color at the same time they learn and acquire new vocabulary in Spanish. This exercise also intends to expand the language and conversation on diversity and identity through the richness of color and perception.

All the names of the colors are made up, make up your own!

Choose your color + an adjective/noun

Examples:

  1. The color of your eyes
  2. The color of your hair
  3. The color of your skin
  4. The color of your shirt
  5. The color you associate with home

NEGRO MÁGICO MARRÓN DISTRAÍDO

ARENA DEL CARIBE VERDE SALVAJE AZUL SOFÁ

(Magic Black) (Distracted Brown)

(Caribbean Sand) (Green Frog) (Couch Blue)

Once they came up with the colors we can:
• Ask students to share their colors with the group.
• Find common colors and share the adjectives or accompanying nouns and what they mean. • Ask students to practice asking each other the questions about their colors.
• Ask students to create a visual palette with their colors using collage or paint.

(The activities will be bases on length of lesson, grades and available supplies)

Materials: Colors, flash cards, magazines (if using collage) English-Spanish dictionary.
