Go behind the science at Mote Marine Laboratory as we discover the fascinating field of marine science. In this interactive lesson, Mote Marine Laboratory will present a media-rich session on marine science and research. This lesson showcases: a variety of marine science topics and careers through a behind the scenes look at the research and facilities at Mote; examples of scientists working in the field and laboratory; conservation messages and the opportunity to ask questions of our ocean expert are featured throughout the session. Featured topics can include: shark research, animal husbandry, sea turtle nest monitoring, manatee training and research, coral reef research and restoration, behind the scenes at Mote’s cephalopod Lab and much more!
Objectives: The students will learn about marine science and aquarium careers and what it takes to work in these fascinating fields; understand the importance of various marine life; demonstrate what conservation efforts can be done to help protect ocean animals.
Technology required: We are open to connection with any technology platform. We can easily connect via Google Hangout, Skype, Blackboard Collaborate, Zoom, H.323 (Polycom/Cisco/Lifesize, etc.), and more.
