This docent-led tour will introduce 4th graders to superhuman qualities that can be seen in The Ringling Museum of Art and The Ringling Circus Museum. Students will explore the notion of “superhuman” by viewing the world’s largest miniature circus, trying out circus acts, and looking at how artists depict extraordinary individuals. Your docents will also help students understand the role that John and Mable Ringling played in the growth of Sarasota from small town to bustling cultural center.
Superhuman in Sarasota tours are offered Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 10:30 am. The tour concludes at 12:00 pm, but groups are welcome to stay at The Ringling longer to explore on their own.
This tour opportunity is open to all 4th grade classes in Sarasota County, in support of Any Given Child’s initiative to provide community arts experiences at all grade levels. Teacher resource materials, including suggested pre- and post-visit activities to do in the classroom, will be provided to 4th grade teachers who schedule this exploration.
